APERTURA 2026

APERTURA Zines

In partnership with local risograph publisher and zine archive Burn All Books, APERTURA's goal is to document the poetry of San Diego. Each issue will carry its own theme and celebrate a variety of San Diegans, while also celebrating the rich and radical history of zine making and independent publishing. The DIY nature of these zines seeks to inspire readers to write their own poetry and preserve zine making as an important art form. Click below for more info.

APERTURA Video Poetics

Across four Saturdays in March 2026, learn how to take your poem from line to lens in this free, bilingual video poetics workshop designed and led by City of San Diego Poet Laureate Paola Capó-García and filmmaker Víctor De La Fuente. Participants will write a poem with Paola and then turn those poems into experimental short films with Víctor. The work produced throughout these workshops will be exhibited at the Athenaeum Art Center in November 2026. Click below for more info.
